Soccer is played in every country on the planet. It is a passion that inspires players and consumes fans, and there are a lot of them. Over the many years that we've worked with Nike Soccer, it has been our mission to ignite and spread this enthusiasm. It all started in 2003 with a ball of duct tape and some scraps of paper.
Nike's Soccer Tape campaign was created to inspire kids in the U.S. to play brilliant soccer. It promotes a DIY approach to soccer. You don't need a coach, a field or a fancy metal goal box to play brilliantly. Just grab some duct tape, make a ball, make a goal and play whenever and wherever.
Odopod created a site that would expand on the DIY spirit of Soccer Tape. We created the Soccer Tape Zine-Maker. It enables users to automatically construct their own Soccer Zine as they navigate through soccer videos, stickers, stories and animations. Zines can be saved, sent to friends and even entered in a creativity contest. The winner had their zine spread published in Eurosport.
'Tape' kicked off a long-lasting, prolific friendship with Nike Soccer.
